Lindsey Kocina

Licensed Massage Therapist, COTA/L

I have been working in the therapy field as a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant since 2009 in rehabilitation settings, transitional care settings, and with the geriatric population. I realized I wanted to further my ability and career in order to help others live their life to the fullest. I attended CenterPoint School of Massage and Shiatsu where I completed the 1320 hour East/West Program in 2013 learning both Eastern and Western massage/bodywork techniques. With the background and knowledge from my occupational therapy training and massage training I am able to listen to your goals and integrate my skills and techniques to create an individualized session; bringing a standard massage to a new level. I thoroughly enjoy being a part of helping others achieve their highest level of personal well being.

Professional Service/Technique Training:

*** Please note: the techniques listed are ones that I am trained in & have completed further education/training in. Sessions are scheduled via length/duration. Various techniques are used during a session in order to work towards your goal for the session. We will discuss your treatment goals prior to the session beginning and techniques will be adjusted accordingly. "Deep Tissue" is not always the best treatment approach! ***

Rehabilitative/Therapeutic Massage:

Rehabilitative Massage Therapy focuses on a specific region of the body and includes work on soft tissue-muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia- for increased healing and enhanced function.

Trigger Point/Deep Tissue Massage:

This results-driven technique is best for addressing an injury or chronic pain as well as providing pain management solutions for people with beginning to advanced conditions. Trigger points can cause pain over the muscle affected or refer pain and thus be felt in another area of the body. Direct pressure is applied to trigger points located in the muscle tissue to bring about reduction in muscle tension and pain relief.

Relaxation Massage:

Relaxation massage is a gentle Swedish Massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes to help you relax without focusing on easing any muscle soreness or tension. Compared to therapeutic massages, a relaxation massage will move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure. In a relaxation massage there is less emphasis on working out chronic underlying muscle tension.

Cupping:

Cupping is an ancient Chinese method used to relieve muscle tension, promote blood and lymph circulation, and healing. When cups are applied the suction and negative pressure in the cups causes the skin and superficial layers of skin and muscle to be lifted assisting to loosen muscles and encourage increased blood flow. The cups can be applied stationary or can be moved across the skin, known as gliding.

Kinesiotaping:

The use of Kinesiotape is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of

motion. Kinesiotape is used to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain, optimize performance, prevent injury, and promote improved circulation and healing.
